Doodle-It gives your phonics lessons an interactive, creative twist and encourages your Preschool, Kindergarten, or even First Grade kids to explore phonics through art and drawing. The Phonics Poetry book with original poems is explores a variety of concepts including alphabet, blends, digraphs, & more. These interactive activities for kids are great for any time of the year. Start Back to School off right, using Doodle-It as an introduction or review. Also great as End of the Year activities too. Bind them together to create a Doodle Phonics Book!
We're all about doodling lately. Are your kiddos into it, too? Doodling with regular pencils. Doodling with scented pencils. Doodling with scented crayons, and those Mr. Sketch gel crayons and markers of all kinds... Basically any type of writing utensil they can get their hands on, they're using it to doodle!

So I thought I'd meet them where they're at with their interest in doodling, and find a way to sneak some fun phonics practice into their doodle time. Which leads me to introduce Doodle-It Phonics! A doodling notebook that draws (haha, bad mom joke!) a kid's focus and attention to phonics while letting them exercise and explore their creative side at the same time.Doodle-It gives your phonics lessons an interactive, creative twist and encourages your Preschool, Kindergarten, or even First Grade kids to explore phonics through art and drawing. Doodle-It can be used as individual worksheets, or it can also be glued into a composition or regular notebook to create an interactive book that students can flip through time and time again. It covers a wide range of phonics. It includes Alphabet, CVC & Rhyming, Digraphs, Blends, & Long Vowel practice.

There are two ways you can have your learners doodle... they can use guided doodling version, or they can jump right into it and try it on their own. The guided version helps them write words and shows a picture so that they can see a visual of the word and either doodle their own version of the object or doodle one like the picture. They can doodle the word as well! Instructions and examples are included in the download.

You decide how you want to use this resource. You can use the 180 pages here and there as you need them, or you can pick and choose what sounds you're currently working on and create a spiral or stapled notebook for students to hang on to. If you use a 3 prong folder, you can continue to add to it all throughout the year!

You'll notice that on the guided doodling version, students have the option to repeat the picture already shown, or they could also draw their own. At this age, some students don't know where to start when it comes to drawing, so I wanted to make sure that even reluctant drawers had a starting place...even if it meant just attempting to doodle the picture already shown.

Another interactive Phonics notebook that I use with my kids is this Phonics Poetry Notebook that includes original poetry from my good friend from Let's Learn S'more

This Phonics Poetry Notebook gives kids a hands-on approach to learning and practicing their reading skills. There are four versions included for each focus. One version has students writing in the various vowels, diphthongs, blends, or digraphs. The other doesn't. And both of these come in either a less-ink, color-me option or a full color option.

Students cut these out on the solid line and glue them in a composition or spiral notebook, which allows them to continually review prior ones completed! Woohoo!

Morning Work for Kindergarten Common Core
Today we're going to take a peek at the Common Curriculum Everyday set I like to use with Kinders. I'll show you how it's designed and what concepts it covers. Plus, I'm going to set you up with FOUR FREE DOWNLOADS that you'll love!

I first created Common Curriculum Everyday shortly after the Common Core standards came out. I needed something to use with my Kinders that included short little snippets of independent daily review that were designed around mastering the new-at-the-time LA & Math Common Core standards. I didn't want to have to dig around searching for and compiling random resources to use as review. Nor did I want to keep track of so many different resources.
FREE SAMPLE DOWNLOADS! These daily math, literacy, and writing activity worksheets were made, with the Common Core standards in mind, to be independent practice review for Kindergarten students to do as morning work, homework, at a center, or however you would so choose. The repeat exposure to the standards allow students to master skills quickly. A perfect Back to School resource! #freeprintable #kindergarten #backtoschool #commoncore #math #morningwork
So I laid all the Common Core LA & Math standards out and made a plan, making sure to incorporate as many of the standards as I could (plus a few extra concepts as well). I spread it out over the span of 10 months, combining a few August weeks into the September pack since school around here usually begins the middle of August.
The activity sheets that come in each months pack involve math, literacy, and handwriting skills. They were made (with the Common Core standards in mind) to be used as independent practice sheets for students to do as morning work, homework, at a center, or for use in any other way you might see fit.

Common Curriculum Everyday provides repeat exposure to the Kindergarten LA & Math standards, allowing students to successfully master the standards. The skills and Common Core standards that are covered in each month are written out in each pack so that you can look over each month ahead of time. The handwriting skills grow with students, starting off with basic letter tracing, moving to writing words, and then moving again to writing sentences later on in the year.

Each month includes 25 pages to print. The September pack includes an additional 10 pages to use for end of August. The entire 10-month set includes 260 pages to print.

The pages of every pack are set up in 5 different layouts (one for each week of the month) so that students can be guided by you on what to do the first day of each week and then be able to continue on their own for the remaining days. The layouts are similar, so many students will pick up on what to do after awhile without any guidance at all.

This next example pictures has a mistake...did you notice what she did wrong? These daily pages are a great way to do informal assessments as you're walking around the room!

Here are FOUR FREE DOWNLOADS that will give you an opportunity to try these for yourself!

I especially love this pack because students have to search for the spider each day on the page. You can have them circle it when they find it! Did you find it?

This one is from the January pack. Just like October, this one also has a snowflake that students have to search for each day on every page:

Today I'd like to introduce my Word Family Accordion Friends with you.
They are super easy for students to make on their own and have proven to increase engagement as students can't seem to take their hands off of them once they are made!
Meet the Word Families Accordion Friends! They will fit right in with the other rhyming or word families activities and ideas you're doing with your Preschool, Kindergarten, or First Grade students. Proven to increase engagement, your students won't be able to take their hands off them once they are made!
Your littles are going to LOVE practicing word families with these stretchy friends, I promise!

So let me show you how they work, how they are made, and how you can differentiate with them to best meet the needs of your littles. (18 different friends are included, not just the boy seen in the highlighted pictures. They do repeat...92 pages to print total.)

So we all know that not Kindergarteners are great cutters yet. With the Word Family Accordion Friends, THAT IS OK!
Your more advanced cutters can go ahead and manuver around all the grooves of the body and those who struggle with cutting can simply cut one straight line down the paper.

Each Word Family includes two different friends...one that has words pre-written on it and one that doesn't. This is so that you can offer a challenge to those who are ready for it. Meet the Word Families Accordion Friends! Proven to increase engagement, your students won't be able to take their hands off them once they are made!
Let advanced students think up words on their own and write them in. Students who struggle with writing or who need more help understand word families can simply focus on the families and not have to worry about the writing part. And once they get it, offer them the same challenge as well!

To turn these friends into accordions, you'll want to grab a handful of rulers.

Proven to increase engagement, your students won't be able to take their hands off them once they are made!
--Tell students to leave the line between the first two words unfolded. --
For the rest of the lines, show them how to make a 'perfect fold' by placing the ruler right at the line and bending the paper forward over it. (Some of your students won't need a ruler to fold.)
Flip the friend backward every other time you fold.

There are 38 Word Families to choose from.
Blank friends are included so that you can add your own.

A corresponding recording chart is also included so that you can keep track of the families your littles have mastered. A great way to show student progress and growth!

Once they are made, your students will not be able to put them down! There is just something about accordions that make you want to keep stretching them out and closing them over and over again.

Students can 'quiz' each other by keeping the friend closed, seeing if they can say words from the family without looking, and then opening them to see how they did.

You can find the Accordion Friends HERE

Are you ready for some football? Practice phonics, math, reading, and more with these fun football activities for kids. A free printable is included! It's a perfect pack for the other football ideas, crafts, and games you have planned for your Preschool, Kindergarten, or First grade students! #superbowl #football #activities #activitiesforkids #phonics #math #sports #freeprintable
Are you ready for some football??!!
To be honest, I'm really not a football fan (Ah! Did I really just admit that out loud?!), but I know a lot of littles that are.
Let me show you some of the things that are in my Football Activities pack and then I'll give you a link for a Football Freebie!
First I want to show you this Subtracting Footballs Emergent Reader.
Each page asks students to figure out how many footballs are left after a specific number of them are 'kicked' away. You can have your students cross out the kicked-away number of footballs, or you can have them use the included football manipulative pieces to figure out each book page's answer.

Besides the reader, the Activity Pack also includes practice in beginning and end sounds, short vowels, color word recognition, measurement (shortest, tallest), syllables, number recognition, & rhyming words.
Here are some more of the included printouts...
This Football Color-By-Number FREEBIE is also included in the pack.
Your littles are going to absolutely love this activity!
You can download this Football Color-By-Number absolutely FREE!

Have fun!!!
